YEAR 2000 READINESS DISCLOSURE

SUBJECT MATTER: IGT Products - Year 2000 Compliance

DATE: March 30, 1999

IGT has received numerous inquiries about the ability of our products to function in the year 2000 and beyond. Due to concerns relating to the ability of computers to handle year 2000 ("Y2K") dates, IGT has reviewed four basic categories of our product offerings: 1) Gaming Machines; 2) Wide Area Progressive System Machines and Associated Equipment; 3) Gaming Systems such as Slot Accounting and Player Tracking; and 4) Linked Gaming, such as SAMS After reviewing Y2K Compliance, IGT provides the following information:

I. Gaming Machines:

  • Fortune II
  • Player's Edge
  • Player's Edge Plus1
  • S-Slot
  • S-Plus
  • S-Plus Limited including Barcrest Top Box
  • Game King (formerly Winner's Choice)
  • iGame
  • Vision Slot
The gaming machine products listed above (manufactured in the United States) are Y2K Compliant2. Further, IGT expects that any gaming machine products offered between now and the year 2000 will be year 2000 compliant. IGT no longer supports gaming machines not listed above. Although most of these machines do not use or require time or calendar data, IGT recommends any operator using these machines to perform their own evaluation for Year 2000 Compliance.

The wide area progressive system products listed above, as well as IGT’s associated computer monitoring and communication equipment are currently, or will be Y2K Compliant prior to the year 2000. Further, IGT expects that any wide area progressive systems offered between now and the year 2000 will be year 2000 compliant.

III. Gaming Systems:

IGS: The IGS System is Y2K Compliant.

SMART SYSTEM VERSION 2.6: The IGT Smart System version 2.6 is Y2K Compliant in the European market.

SMART SYSTEM VERSION 2.5.2: The IGT Smart System version 2.5.2 is Y2K Compliant in the United States.

SMART SYSTEM PRIOR TO VERSION 2.5.2: Smart System releases prior to version 2.5.2 are not Y2K compliant. IGT strongly recommends that any operator of a Smart System release prior to version 2.5.2 should upgrade as soon as possible. The procedures for upgrading earlier Smart System versions to version 2.5.2 may be initiated by contacting IGT’s System Group at (800) 945-4822 for an evaluation and cost estimate.

SMART SYSTEM VERSIONS 3.0 AND HIGHER: At present, Smart System versions 3.0 and higher are not Y2K Compliant. IGT plans to offer Y2K Compliant upgrades for certain Smart System versions above 3.0. Please contact IGT’s System Group at (800) 945-4822 for an evaluation and cost estimate for these systems.

CASINO MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (CMS): At present, CMS versions are not Y2K Compliant. Upgrades to Y2K Compliant version 3.5.1 will be made available for locations operating the CMS System in the United States (including Native American Lands within the U.S.) in the near future. No upgrade for locations operating CMS outside the U.S. will be made available. IGT strongly recommends that any operator of a CMS system outside the U.S. purchase an alternate, Y2K Compliant system as soon as possible. Inquiries relating to CMS should be addressed to IGT’s System Group at (800) 945-4822.

SINGLE PC (SPC): IGT no longer supports the SPC System which is not Y2K Compliant. IGT strongly recommends that any operator of a SPC System purchase an alternate, Y2K Compliant system as soon as possible. Please contact IGT’s System Group at (800) 945-4822 for an evaluation and cost estimate of an IGT system that meets your needs.

DIRECT LINK INTERFACE (DLI): IGT no longer supports the DLI System which is not Y2K Compliant. IGT strongly recommends that any operator of a DLI System purchase an alternate, Y2K Compliant system as soon as possible. Please contact IGT’s System Group at (800) 945-4822 for an evaluation and cost estimate of an IGT system that meets your needs.

PC SAS: IGT no longer supports the PC SAS System which is not Y2K Compliant. IGT strongly recommends that any operator of a PC SAS System purchase an alternate, Y2K Compliant system as soon as possible. Please contact IGT’s System Group at (800) 945-4822 for an evaluation and cost estimate of an IGT system that meets your needs.

IV. Linked Gaming Systems:
SECURITY ACCOUNTING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SAMS) VERSIONS 4.X: SAMS versions 4.X are Y2K Compliant.

SECURITY ACCOUNTING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SAMS) VERSIONS 3.X: At present, SAMS versions 3.X are not Y2K Compliant. IGT plans to offer Y2K Compliant upgrades for SAMS version 3.X. Please contact your account executive or IGT’s System Group at (800) 945-4822 for an evaluation and cost estimate for these systems.

V. CVTs and LCTs:
All new CVT and LCT programs currently being marketed by IGT are Y2K Compliant. IGT has upgraded certain pre-existing programs for CVTs and LCTs for purposes of Y2K Compliance. The upgraded versions are as follows:

CVT-Plus - all versions
CV/LV0001 version 6 in Louisiana
CV0028 version 6 in Norway
CV/LV0030 version 3 in Manitoba
CV0037 version 5 in West Virginia
CV0045 version 1 in Argentina
EZ Route CVTs

All other pre-existing CVTs and LCTs have not been upgraded. IGT recommends that all operators should upgrade to a Y2K Compliant version as soon as possible. Please contact your IGT Sales Representative or Distributor for a cost estimate.

As indicated above, IGT undertook a time-consuming review of each of its product offerings for Y2K Compliance. For our gaming machine products, wide area progressive system products, and most of our gaming system products, IGT anticipates that our customers will proceed into the next millennium with IGT products that are Y2K Compliant. If we discover any changes in the status of the above products, we will revise this memorandum and/or issue Customer Notifications. This memorandum is posted on our Website (igtgame.com) and our product information network. However, for those of our customers that are currently using gaming systems requiring upgrades, we urge you to contact IGT as soon as possible to discuss options for upgrades and/or new system packages. 1Compliant subject to minor operational issues that occur only under certain remote circumstances. We are currently addressing the minor issues and will issue Customer Notifications upon completion.

2Y2K Compliant means that the functionality of the product is not affected by dates prior to, during, or after the year 2000, or the fact that the year 2000 is a leap year.
